Then transfer mixture to a lightly floured/non-stick surface (I like to use a silicone baking mat with a light sprinkle of flour).

It’s important to leave the dough for a few minutes without trying to knead it. If you knead it without waiting it will be too sticky to work with.

Let it rest for 4-5 minutes to allow the salt to absorb the moisture and hence reduce the stickiness and then it should be ready to use. If it’s still sticky after 5 minutes, add a little bit of flour and work it into the mixture as you knead.

Keep kneading it and adding extra flour until you’ve got some nice, smooth playdough ready to play with.

However, I know people are often searching for playdough recipes that don’t use cream of tartar, so I thought this was a good one to share. Playdough is such a fun activity to do with your kids that, however you decide to make it, I just know you’re in for some great playdough fun!
