You’ve no doubt already discovered by now that there are lots of different ways to make playdough. This shaving cream playdough recipe uses just two ingredients (3 if you include the food colouring) and creates more of a moon dough rather than a traditional playdough.
It’s fun to make and play with and very simple to do, this is definitely an activity to get your kids involved with, the making of the dough is seriously part of the fun!
As mentioned before, you really only need two ingredients to start playing around with this dough recipe – shaving cream/foam and cornflour/cornstarch.
Of course, you’ll probably want to add a bit of colour to your playdough, so technically you might want three ingredients – shaving cream, cornflour and food colouring.
Then it’s as simple as combining your ingredients!
The ratio should be roughly 1:2 shaving cream:cornflour, so, if you use 1 cup of shaving cream you’ll need about 2 cups of cornflour.
Don’t forget a few drops of food colouring to make it fun – be prepared for coloured fingers though!
Use a spoon, or your hands, to mix it all together. If it’s too dry and crumbly add more shaving cream, if it’s too wet add more cornflour.
Once you get the consistency right (or almost right) tip it out onto a non stick surface – I like to use a large silicone baking mat.
Then get those little fingers in there and knead and mix until you’ve formed nice, playable dough.
