Looking for a quick and easy way to shred up a store-bought rotisserie chicken? Whether your chook is from Coles, Woolies, Costco or just your local chicken shop, this method is the fastest way to pull your chicken to pieces and get all that tender, juicy meat off the bones. And, the best thing? It’s completely mess-free!
All you need is your cooked chook and a large snap-lock (or zip lock) bag.
Simply place the whole chicken inside the snap lock bag, seal it up and then use your hands to start pulling (or pushing?) it apart.
After a few seconds to a minute of manipulation you’ll have a bag full of tender, juicy shredded chicken as well as some chicken bones.
Separate the contents of your bag out into shredded chicken you want to eat and bones/stuffing/skin that you don’t want (that you might like to use to make your own homemade chicken stock).
It doesn’t get any easier! Use your shredded chicken for sandwiches, recipes or just to eat.
