“Use 4 drops of this magic oil at night and you’ll never need to wear makeup again!”
Have you seen the ads for these oils? They’ve been doing the rounds of social media for a while now.
I don’t think my wording is exactly right, but it was an ad that said something like that that first caught my eye. Intriguing! Would it really work?
I’m not a big makeup user anyway – just a bit of BB Cream and a slick of eye liner and I’m good to go, but, the idea of my face and skin looking so good that I wouldn’t need makeup was very intriguing to me. I liked the idea of my skin giving off such a healthy glow that I wouldn’t need to try and enhance and/or cover up my features with makeup.
After much deliberation, a few visits to the Ayurveda Experience website and the reading of many glowing reviews, I decided to part with my hard earned money and give it a try.
Unfortunately in Australia it seems you can only buy these oils directly from the website as (at the time I ordered at least) there are no stockists in Australia. You can’t even seem to buy it on Amazon here.
This made me a little nervous as you never know if you can trust a seller when buying from a random website, but it shows how good their marketing was that I would not be dissuaded from trying these oils!
You can change the currency on the website to show you the price in Australian dollars. This is really helpful as at least you can get a clearer idea of how much you are spending.
But, unfortunately, the transaction still goes through in US dollars, so keep that in mind if you plan on ordering some, as there may be extra fees associated with your purchase depending on the bank/credit card you use.
Shipping was free on orders over a certain amount which was nice as often it’s the shipping fees that really add to the cost of purchasing goods from overseas when you live in our isolated country.
Rest assured that, if you choose to order these oils, they will arrive safely and soundly. In fact I think they only took about a week to arrive which I thought was impressive as they were shipped from India.
The first thing to comment on is the beautiful packaging. Each oil comes packed in a sturdy and really nice looking cardboard canister. My first thought was that they would make a lovely gift for someone – you know that person in your life who has everything? Maybe they’d like to try a product from Iyura, they have several other oils as well, not all just relating to beauty.
Since receiving my oils about 3 weeks ago, I have used them religiously as instructed on the packaging.
Manjish Glow Elixir
The Manjish Glow Elixir is the night time oil. On the packaging it says “Glow giving night time facial massage oil.” Known for imparting a gold-like, glowing complexion.
Onto a clean face you simply have to take 4 drops of this oil and massage it in using upward and outward strokes. Massage thoroughly until all of the oil is absorbed or for a maximum of 5 minutes.
My skin has a tendency to be dry so I have found that this oil gets absorbed pretty quickly so I never find I have to massage for longer than maybe 1 minute. Which is good because by then I’m longing to get into bed!
The Kesaradi Oil is used in the morning for “skin brightening, revitalizing, uber-nourishing secret a signature blend of precious saffron, rose, turmeric and 16 ayurvedic herbs”. All of this is designed to give you a soft, glowing, beautiful complexion, naturally.
This oil is applied similarly to the elixir, but only using 3 drops of oil.
As with the elixir, I find I don’t need to massage it in for very long before the oil is absorbed.
So…do these Iyura oils work?
This is the big question, and no doubt what you are here to find out.
After 3 weeks of using these oils, here are the 2 biggest changes that have occurred:
- My skin feels lovely and smooth and soft.
- The bags under my eyes have almost disappeared altogether!
No one has stopped me in the street to tell me how wonderful my skin looks – but I guess that would be weird anyway!
I still wear my BB Cream on a daily basis – but I must say I think it covers my skin better than before. Sometimes, before using these oils, my nose would be so red and blotchy that I would have to add some powdered foundation or concealer of some sort to cover it up even after applying my BB Cream.
I have not had to do that ever since using these oils, so maybe my skin is improving or at least some of my persistent redness might be settling.
I will continue to wear my BB cream forever anyway as it contains sunscreen and my skin is too fair to ever go out without sunscreen under our Australian sun.
My Reservations About The Ayurveda Experience Oils
I really like these oils and have enjoyed using them and will continue to use them in the future. But, I think it’s only fair to let people know the full picture when buying things online.
I purchased these oils after reading thousands of glowing reviews for the products on the company website. I did wonder at the time whether all of these reviews could be legitimate, they make you feel like a miracle is going to happen to your face.
A week or two after receiving the oils I received a follow up email from the company asking me to leave a review and offering a discount on my next purchase if I did so. They don’t specifically say you need to leave a positive, 5 star review to receive the discount, but most people will assume that’s what they need to do.
So, you can’t trust everything that you read online! Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with asking for feedback – most big companies do it, but incentivizing a positive review can certainly skew your review results.
My other reservation would be for people who have oily skin – I’m not sure how well oily skin would absorb these products. My skin is dry and the oils disappear in no time, so maybe it would be alright, but it’s just food for thought.
Don’t let my reservations put you off though, there are no doubt thousands of customers who genuinely like the products (as I do) who would probably have never gotten around to leaving a review if they weren’t given a little incentive to do so. I just like to leave you armed with all of the facts so you can make your own judgement.
The fact is, at least from my point of view, these oils are not miracle workers – I still look pretty similar to before. But, and it’s a pretty big but, I seem to have managed to lose the bags under my eyes, so that’s pretty impressive, and my skin does feel lovely to touch.
Maybe I’ll just have to wait a bit longer for my natural glow to come through!
